Psalm 84 – Longing for the Temple Worship

I read this psalm this morning and just wanted to share it with you all. What a great reminder that we believers are to constantly keep an eternal perspective on every circumstance! One day in the courts of the Lord is vastly better and more glorious than a thousand outside. How greatly we must praise the Father for graciously allowing us bold access to His throne for all of eternity through the Savior Jesus Christ. I am reminded of this quote by Charles Spurgeon:

Surely then the holy angels, who have never sinned, will unite in exclaiming, ‘Behold how He love them!’ It is a most blessed thought, to my mind, that we may be up there before the hands of that clock complete another round; and it not that soon, it will not be long before all of us who love the Lord will be with Him where He is…

May that be our most joyful hope, to know that we will one day spend eternity in the house of the Lord where His praise is unending and His glory shines as the sun with grace and love and justice while His people rejoice and bask in His power and majesty.

“How lovely are You dwelling places, O Lord of hosts! My soul longed and even  yearned for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. The bird also has found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even Your alters, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. How blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You. Selah.

“How blessed is the man whose strength is hin You, in whose heart are the highways to Zion! Passing through the valley of Baca (weeping) they make it a spring; the early rain also covers it with blessings. They go from strength to strength, the God of gods will be seen in Zion.

“O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; giver ear, O God of Jacob! Selah. Behold our shield, O God, and look upon the face of Your anointed. For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You!”
